Welcome to the international Workshop on Powder X-ray Diffraction and Rietveld Refinement

X-ray diffraction is one of the most powerful techniques for characterizing the structural properties of crystalline solids. Meanwhile, Rietveld refinement method is a complementary analysis, used to refine simultaneously both the structural (lattice parameters, atomic positions and occupancies) and microstructural parameters (crystallite size and microstrain).

The Workshop on Powder X-ray Diffraction and Rietveld Refinement will be held during 4th – 7th May, 2016 at Faculty of Science, Kasetsart University. The goal of this workshop is to provide basic and essential knowledge to well understand XRD techniques and able to fully apply this technique in research problems. Furthermore, this will bring together the scientists from national and international (public and private) organizations to promote XRD research in ASEAN scientific community.

This workshop will combine lectures, invited talks and extensive tutorials on crystal structures, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) and Rietveld analysis (Fullprof suite) given by Prof. Rose-Noelle Vannier from National Graduate School of Engineering Chemistry of Lille (ENSCL, France) and Dr. Tony Wang from Bruker Singapore Pte. Ltd. A symposium will be organized on the last day, 7th May, 2016, allowing participants to take to discuss potential applications with the specialists, to exchange their research experience and bring the community closer together.

All participants are required to bring their own laptops to the workshop for use in workshop tutorial sessions. The number of participants is limited; a maximum of 50 participants will be accepted. Limited financial supports are available for all poster presenters (20 grants). Applicants who wish to apply for the financial support should submit a scientific abstract along with their application form.
